10 tips for Pedestrians
1. Choose the route with the fewest streets to cross
2. Avoid crossing busy or high-speed streets and intersections
3. Be more visible to drivers by wearing bright clothing in the daytime and reflective clothing at night
4. Do not cross behind or within 10 feet of the front of a bus or other large motor vehicle because drivers cannot see this area
5. Watch for parked motor vehicles that may be getting ready to back up or pull forward
6. Before crossing, always look for motor vehicles (right and left). Cross when no traffic is coming
7. Walk briskly, don't run, across the street
8. Keep watching for traffic until you have finished crossing
9. Always obey traffic signs and signals when crossing the street at an intersection
10. Do not wear headphones while walking - this limits your ability to hear traffic
