6 tips for Parents
1. Encourage your child to walk or bike regularly; to school, activities, or just for fun
2. Require that your child wear a helmet while riding a bicycle, even if he/she is just riding around the block
3. Help your child choose appropriate, bright clothing for bike rides or walks
4. Be courteous to bicyclists and pedestrians so your child develops a positive attitude toward these activities
5. Know and understand the rules in your community that apply to bicyclists and pedestrians
6. Be a "walking" role model - ride your bike or walk to work if possible
